The Green Sea in Tragöß
The green sea is a pure sea out of snowmelt in Austria, that means it is filled by the melting snow of our mountains. This is why the water-level is different every year because the melting amount of snow depends on the winter before. The depth of the sea is about 9 meters, although there was a maximum depth of 12 metres.
The colour oft he green sea: the cristal clear water is pretty important for the sea. Besides there is the solar irradiation that affects the colour of the sea.
The radiation of the sun is fractured at the surface of the water by multiple times and a kind of a prisma is established that splits the radiation into its spectral colours. The colour green has the most saturation and this is why it is seen intensified all around the sea. The trees reflect themself in the water and lend even more saturation tot he colour. As a result the colour green is generated.
